In my 18 years of life, twice have I ventured away from the beloved East Coast, and never have I been outside the borders of the United States. My vacations and travel experiences have been filled with beaches, lakes, and cities that span from Florida to New York. While these experiences never cease to provide me with joy and entertainment, over the past few years, I have felt as if each trip, each beach, and each place is more of the same. As I get closer and closer to college, my future comes in to question more and more. What do I want to do? Where do I want to go? How will I be able to achieve my goals? And as I ask myself these questions, it has become clear to me that I wish to travel the world. I wish to explore new cultures and interact with countless individuals that can teach me new ideas and show me the world in a new light.
I wish to study abroad like كيرلا الهند , engaging with students, professors, and citizens around the world in order to gain a unique understanding and perspective. As of right now, these aspirations are simply dreams, ones that I will tuck away as I progress through college at Virginia Tech. After I receive my master’s degree in engineering, I will seek out opportunities to visit foreign countries and develop my skills even further, while also experiencing the thrills and endless possibilities that the world has to offer. However, this desire to travel is not solely for broadening my horizons. I want to utilize my skills in communities around the world that are much less fortunate. I wish to provide aid and establish infrastructure in third-world countries to help those that are unfairly struggling, simply because of where they were born and raised. As I have grown, I have come to realize that service and striving to make a difference in someone’s life is one of the most powerful tools in our world. It provides us with an understanding for what people in other communities go through every day, so that we may empathize and help them build an adequate lifestyle.
Travel is a beautiful thing. It can show us the greatest of humanity, while at the same time, display the ongoing struggle of millions of people. It opens our minds to new ideals and viewpoints, yet makes us realize how lucky we are to have the wonderful things in our lives that we take for granted. Life is all about perspective. Each and every place throughout the world can provide us with a unique perspective that may change our hearts, thoughts, and actions. From the green landscape of Ireland to the shacks of Haiti; from the castles of Italy to the jungles of El Salvador; from the Great Wall to the Taj Mahal to the Pyramids of Giza, each one tells a story. It is our job to read this story with an open mind and an open heart.
